5/6 Final Project Update

Image
Managed to figure out my terrain flickering issue (it was something to do with the camera attached to the controller). Uploaded my walkthrough to the drive too.  Walkthrough:  https://vimeo.com/546301662 Password: unity

5/6 - Unity Final Project

Image
Adjusted my final project based off the last critique as best I could; I have no idea why my old terrain is still flickering when I tried to record it though... any new terrain I create seems to be fine, and I made sure there weren't any duplicates or anything wrong with the textures either.

4/29 Final Project (critique)

Ran into an absurd amount of technical issues that I had not previously encountered. I'll list out a couple for fun: the controller I was using broke when I tried adjusting the camera settings, which took a while to fix (I should have just started that over from scratch, honestly), my terrain started flickering in game mode (which I still haven't figured out the cause for... it was fine before), and the ceiling texture for my main building went on vacation.  I still need to apply physics to my assets, de-clutter/redo my flora (after looking at it in-game, I'm even less fond of it than I was previously), and add another terrain layer so the environment doesn't end so abruptly.  Vimeo link:  https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/543362894  https://vimeo.com/543362894 Password: unity

4/27 Unity Progress

Put in some appropriate camping clutter; shovels, torches, lantern, etc. Added an HDR skybox and the third person controller. Decided to emulate a battlefield to create more visual interest (the excessively large swords are to allude to larger-than-life figures having been the former denizens' opponents. Planning on adding giant skeletons too, though I want to put in my ruins first). The empty space is to account for the ruins I've modeled in Maya.  I'm not too crazy about the shrubbery I've chosen, so I may adjust that later, though it may not be noticeable anyways.   Maya update:

Trying to think more about pathing now; I adjusted the placement of the rocks and trees, and also roughened the terrain more. Also tried to make the sand textures I'm using blend a little more naturally.  I'm intending to make this look like an excavation site at sunset. Installed the Megascans plugin for Unity, so I'll be adding assets from there too.

Downloaded some assets and am currently trying to make desert terrain more realistic/interesting. Going to be adding more shrubbery and torches, along with modeling some more ruins in Maya.

4/15 More Maya progress

Did some more modeling/fine tuning. I still need to model the interior of my main building and begin texturing (and maybe make it more ruin-like using booleans).
